The Bicotest Woodpecker RL2000 Cable Identifier is for use on dead HV cables. Its analogue meter shows signal strength and has constant or pulsed sine wave output.
The cable identifier is intended to work with loop impedances up to 80 ohms @ 625 Hz. Impedances in excess of this will reduce the loop current and hence the ease with which the identifying signal is detected.
The transmitter unit is designed to give a constant output current into any load up to the maximum impedance specified. All operations on the cable are only to be carried out after the cable has been isolated and earthed in accordance with an approved safe method of working.
